أهمية العلم:
لا تمثل أهمية العلم قدرة الإنسان على القراءة والكتابة فقط، وإنما يتعدى ذلك إلى المخرجات المتحصلة من العلم وأثره على المجتمع، فالعلم وسيلة للسعادة والاستقرار، حيث يصبح الإنسان أكثر رضاً عن نفسه، وعن مكانته في المجتمع، كما يتيح التعليم للفرد أن يأمّن تكاليف معيشته، وتزداد فرصته في الحصول على الوظيفة، وتحقيق الاستقلال المادي، ويعزز العلم القيم الأخلاقية لدى الإنسان، ويؤدي إلى زيادة في الإنتاجية في مختلف القطاعات، وتزيد فرصة الأفراد على الابتكار والإنتاج، وبالعلم يدرك الفرد نمط الحياة الصحي ويحاول الالتزام به قدر المستطاع، وبه يستطيع التفريق بين الأمور المنطقية والأمور غير المنطقية، ويتخلّى بذلك عن الخرافات التي لا أساس علميّ لها، وطلب العلم في الإسلام أمرٌ إلهي، أمر به الله تعالى في السماء والأرض.
قال تعالى: (وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هَؤُلَاءِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ)صدق الله العلي العظيم (سورة البقرة، آية:31).
