هندسة المواد : هو اختصاص متداخل يتضمن دراسة خواص المواد وتطبيقاتها الهندسية سواء كانت صناعية، أو عمرانية او حتى فحص وتقييس وسيطرة نوعية .. من هذه الكلمات البسيطة يتبين مدى اهمية هذا الاختصاص . اما دراسة هندسة المواد فتعتمد بشكل أساسي على المعلومات النظريه أو المختبرية ، لذا يعتبر من أكثر المجالات الهندسية إرتباطا بالمختبرات العلمية.
